Nancy Ellen Teal Callahan, 84, of China Grove, NC, passed away Sunday, June 07, 2026, at Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County – Tucker Hospice House. Born in Cabarrus County, NC on October 16, 1941, she was the daughter of her late parents, Charles Alexander Teal and Dorothy Teal Rushing.
Nancy will be remembered for a steady faith that guided her life and for a devotion that showed itself in quiet, consistent ways—through care for family, attentiveness to others, and a thoughtful presence that made people feel seen. Her love of God was evident in her service: she sang in the church choir, participated in mission trips to help others, and served as the head of a woman’s group.
She also carried simple joys with her—especially a fondness for red cars, like her 67 Camaro and her dodge magnum. She enjoyed Motorcycle races and Nascar, and she especially cheered for her favorite racers, Dale Jr. and Chase Elliott.
Nancy was married to Jack Martin Callahan for 67 years before he passed earlier this year. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was also preceded in death by her sister in-law, Barbara Mauney; daughter, Ellen Lynn Callahan in 1993; nephew, Chris Aycoth and Joey the cat.
She is survived by her children Mike Callahan and Cindy Blanton (Robert); sisters, Mary Ann Teal Ogles, Darnell Teal McManus (Darryle), and Diane Teal Ingram; sister-in-law, Carol (Larry) Jarvis; grandchildren, Michael Jack, Brittney (D.J.) and Matthew (Cassidy); and six great-grandchildren, Jayven, Jace, Jerrick, Jensen, Jett and Wrigley.
Further survived by her nephews, Gary (Shelly) Mauney, Dale (Julie) Mauney, Marty (Beth) Aycoth and AJ Miller Cody Carelock, Branden Carelock and Christian Terry; nieces, Andrea Blalock, Lauren Ingram; and many other great extended family members are left to cherish her memory.
The family will have a memorial service to celebrate her life on June 19th, 2026, at Linn-Honeycutt funeral home in China Grove. The service will begin at 2:00 PM with Rev. Allen Reid officiating. The burial will be private for the family.
