

Born in Cabarrus County on February 22, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Fred Diggs and Nancy Teal Diggs.
In addition to her parents, Odessa was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Gareth LaDon Overcash, Sr., and her brother, Freddie Diggs.
Odessa was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking and preparing great desserts.
She spent her life caring for her family, leaving a great legacy. Odessa also was a babysitter for many other children throughout the years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Tabitha Smith, Melissa Broadway (Frank), Gareth Overcash, Jr. (Lynde), Stephen Overcash, Sr. (Ashley), and Susan Church (Jon).
She is further survived by 18 grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Savannah Enloe (Christopher), Thomas Smith, Jr. (Jamey), Madison Broadway (Thomas), Marcus Broadway (Flannery), Mason Broadway (Maddie), Marianna Barrier (Alex), Gareth Overcash III (Ashley), Haven Girard (Patrick), Caden Lemly, Landry Overcash, Jules Overcash, Serenity Romanek, Stephen Overcash, Jr. (Ashley), Haley Overcash (Braytn), Katelyn Overcash (Aiden), Shelby Norton (Owen) and Taylor Church; and four great-grandchildren, Micah Enloe, Rome Mande, Danyell Barrier, Oliver Barrier and two on the way.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home from 1:30 PM -2:30 PM, with a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Rowan Memorial Park.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the staff, doctors and nurses at Liberty Commons of Salisbury, for their exceptional care given to Odessa.
