Born in Cabarrus County, NC on March 5, 1958, he was the son of the late Florence Collier Simmons and Mary Louise Collins Simmons.
Darrell completed high school and lived in Oklahoma for many years, where he attended Grace Baptist Church and was a Deputy with the Washita County Sheriff's Department. He also served in the United States Marine Corp.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Karla and Kevin Scott; his grandchildren, Noah Scott (fiancé, Makayla), Carter Forrest, Kyron Forrest and Seth Scott; his siblings, Rev. Omar Wade Simmons (Theresa), Marie Cook (John), Beverly Evans (Gary), Virgil Simmons (Amy), Rodney Simmons (Amy) and Nathan Simmons (Lisa) and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home 11:00am.
