Raymond Nelson Grametbauer

Raymond Grametbauer, 69, passed away Wednesday evening, February 1, 2012 at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Born August 25, 1942 in Massillon, Ohio, he was a son of the late William Josef and Nella Carnes Grametbauer. A graduate of Washington High in Massillon, Mr. Grametbauer retired from the University of Michigan Medical Center, where he was supervisor of hospital security. Earlier in life, he had retired as an officer with the Pinckney, Michigan, Police Department, where he had been awarded and honored for saving several lifes. Mr. Grametbauer had also been a volunteer with the Pinckney Fire Department for many years. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Mr. Grametbauer was always willing to help others, putting their needs first.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Grametbauer.

Family members left with cherished memories include his wife of nearly 48 years, Gloria Ann Martins Grametbauer, daughter, Renee Lutz and husband, Tim of Albemarle, his son, Eric Grametbauer and wife, Sayuri of Taylorsville, Kentucky, brothers, Josef Grametbauer and wife, Joyce and Gordon Welty, his sisters, Nancy Hanlon and husband, John, Ann Thomas and Judie Krempel and husband, Robert, his grandchildren, Ann-Marie Burtner and Sean Grametbauer.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Funeral services will be at 3:00 in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Fred Archer, Pastor, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at a later date at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, in Livonia, Mich.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
