Reverend Raymond Lee Hinson, age 86 of Landis, left for his heavenly home on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis after a brief illness. Born January 21, 1935 in Rowan County, Rev. Hinson was the son of the late Dewey Sampson Hinson and Mary Lou Williams Hinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley Correll Hinson; sons, Russell Lamar Hinson, Joseph Allen Hinson, his daughter, Rae H. Griggs and brothers, Donald Hinson, David Hinson, William Boyd Hinson, George Lee Hinson, Billy Ray Hinson, John Henry Hinson and sister, Patricia Hinson Slough.
After graduating high school, Rev. Hinson went on to proudly serve his country in the United State Army with the 82nd Airborne & 187th Infantry Regiment (the Rakkasans) during the Korean War. He earned the Parachute Badge & Combat Infantry Badge. He also earned the UN Service, National Defense, Army & Air Force Good Conduct & Korean Service Medals. After the Army, he served in the Air Force, but he loved the Airborne.
Rev. Hinson served as a pastor for many years in the Foursquare Gospel Church arena. Serving and pastoring his Church and serving the Lord were most important to him throughout his life. He had a servant’s heart and loved helping others. He earned his private pilot’s license and loved to fly. But he received great pleasure from spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tamra Safriet (Dink); His brothers, Kenneth Wayne Hinson and Richard Dale Hinson and sister, Carlene Hinson Beaver.
