Born in Virginia on January 17, 1956, he was the son of the late Nancy Tuck Nichols and Lowell Nichols, who survives.
Robert was a Correctional Officer at Piedmont Correctional Institution for 27 years and attended Grace Community Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Lowell Nichols; his wife of 30 years, Kimberly Barnhardt Nichols; son, Christopher Wayne Nichols; daughters Katherine Michelle Nichols (Phillip Milligan) and Jessica Sara Nichols (Tyler Hallock); sisters, Susan Kronebusch and Nancy Nichols; one granddaughter on the way, Lenny Anita Milligan and his canine companion, Chyna.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
