Ronald "Ronnie" Kay Harwood passed peacefully on October 1, 2026, at the age of 81, while surrounded by his loving family at his home. Born on March 11, 1945 in Salisbury to the late Dwight and Lucinda Harwood. He resided in China Grove, North Carolina at the time of his passing. Ronnie was a wise man with a witty, dry personality. A skilled carpenter and woodworker with a passion for creating beautiful furniture pieces, refurnishing old antiques, fixing anything broken, simply a jack of all trades.
Ronnie enjoyed talks with Pastor Jeff about God and various bible scriptures. His love for country and gospel music carried into his love for performing on stage with his son Darrell, singing Karaoke and impersonating Elvis at past events. Gardening was a passion he enjoyed, especially a little competition gardening between his granddaughter Ally and nephew Rod.
Most of all, his greatest love and joy was found in the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They loved teasing "Pawpaw Ronnie" over who was considered his "number one". All of his grandchildren were the driving force that kept him fighting his health battles over the years.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Sharon; his daughter Rhonda (Darren); his son Darrell (Karen); his grandchildren: Erica Horton (Zach), Ally Deason (Cory), Tayler Harwood, Sarrah Moore (Braeden); his great grandchildren Hope Horton, Parker Horton, Nora Horton and Faye Moore; and several siblings. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones.
A private graveside service will be held for immediate family to honor Ronnie's life.
Memorials can be made to St. Marks Lutheran Church, 326 Main Street, China Grove, NC 28023.
Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Harwood family.
