I was hired by the Kettering Police Department in May of 1980 and Ron was my first training officer.  I  remember his enthusiasm for the job and thank him for his service. 

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Ron.  We worked together on the east side beats of Kettering, the 4-12midnight shift, for four years.  I was  a new guy on the police department when I started working with Ron, and I learned a lot from him.   I will always cherish my memories of Ron.  Will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers.  

Ron and I did not work together for very long at Kettering Police Department.  I came to work as the Chief's administrative assistant in the spring of 1989 and Ron was getting ready to retire.  During our brief time of working together, he was one of the kindest, most helpful and also most fun loving officers I came to know in my early days there.  I hated to see him go  out of the department so soon (to me).

I know he will be missed by family and friends, and though I had not seen Ron for years, I have and will continue to think of him often.  God bless you and comfort you during this sad time.

My deepest condolences to Jonesy’s family.    I worked with Ron at KPD for a few years before he retired.   What a special, fun guy!   He will never be forgotten. 

Ron will always hold a special place in my heart. I was involved in an injury accident,  before I started to work at the police department , and he was the first officer on scene.  I didn’t know who he was at the time but  will never forget his compassion and helpfulness to me at such a scary time in my (then) young life. Thank you, Ron!  

I met Jonesy and Pat (Mom) when I met Missy at Fairmont High School back in the early 80's. Jonesy always had a smile on his face, was always super nice to everyone he met and was a fair, loving and stern step-dad to Missy. Her and I would sneak around, he and Pat would ground her from a certain person and she'd come over to my house to see this person. Somehow, Jonesy knew what we were up to. He would be angry and give Missy and I a good "talking to" but always understood because he was a teenager at one time too. 
I am absolutely heartbroken that Jonesy is gone but know that he is up in Heaven with his Mom and Dad and his brother Donald.

I knew Ron Jones as a boss and as a friend. As my boss he taught me a very valuable lesson when I had the misfortune to make a terrible mistake and let my mouth get the better of me. Words have consequences and so do actions, but in the end, Ron never judged me on that basis, nor did he condemn me. He stood by my side even after the fact. Ron taught me the value of respect, integrity, and service in all that you do as a person. When I became a police officer, I always looked to Ron's example because he was never afraid to remind me to be friendly, fair, but firm, and to never forget that at the end of the day, it's always about the service and the job you do, it's never about you. Humility was always key. I will miss you terribly. I'm so sorry that you had to leave us, but one day we will meet again and until that day comes, I'll always hold you in my heart and live by the ideals you taught me to live by. I'll miss you Jonesy. 

The funniest man I've known and great friend.  Always remember the fun times we had playing cards with Pat and him. Him making me a traffic stop so people would stare as they went by and laughing the whole time. Rest in peace my dear friend and keep the card table ready till we meet again.  Hugs to family.
