China Grove

Mrs. Sadie Roseman Shuffler (Granny to all who knew her), age 97, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Liberty Commons in Salisbury. She was born August 22, 1921 in Rowan County to the late D.V. Roseman and Ollie Rainey. Her son, Walter Gene Shuffler and her elder ten brothers and sisters also preceded her in death. Mrs. Shuffler was educated in Rowan County Schools and worked for many years in the textile industry as a spinner while building homes long after her retirement. She was a member of First Methodist Church of China Grove. She spent much of her time outdoors where she loved mowing her and her grandson’s lawn, pulling weeds and in his words “tearing out his flowers”! Her personality and zest for life was infectious and she brightened every room she entered. She loved cooking and baking and until the past year, hosted and prepared the Sunday meal each week for her family. Mrs. Shuffler loved playing cards with her friends and enjoyed doing so even during this last month. She received great joy from the time she spent with her grandchildren and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her grandson, Terry Dwain Shuffler and wife, Brenda of China Grove and great-grandsons, Garrett Dwain Shuffler and Trevor William Shuffler and three great great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Shuffler will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, 1420 North Main Street, China Grove, NC officiated by the Reverend Michael Goode of First Methodist Church. To the Family of Sadie Shuffler:

I would like to express my sympathy to all of you in the passing of Sadie.

My Aunt, Ruth Deadmon, was Sadie's roommate at Liberty Commons, so I tried to speak to Sadie when I visited Ruth. Both of them were hard of hearing, and Sadie often thought I was one of her family as I had to talk loud to my Aunt. I took that as a compliment!!

Best wishes to you all.

P.S. My Dad's family lived off Daugherty and Pine Ridge Roads, so the Shuffler Family were our neighbors.
