Sarah E. Basinger

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Weaver Basinger, 78 of Salisbury, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at CMC Northeast Medical Center. Born on July 17, 1938 in Iredell County ,she was the daughter of the late Earl and Cecilia Brown Weaver. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, she was a longtime active member at Grace Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Senior Citizens group, Circle of Life, a youth advisor and funeral meal director. She was a member of the Dinner Club, where some of her friends gathered for lunch. She loved to read, travel and spend time with her grandchildren at the lake. She retired from the NC DOT as a secretary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of 44 years, Tony Basinger as well as a son Gene Basinger and sister in law Mary Lee Weaver. Those left to cherish her memory are her son Randy Basinger (Sheila) of Salisbury and brothers Terry Weaver and Larry Weaver (Gail) as well as grandchildren Scottie Basinger (Monica) and Zach Basinger (Lauren) and great grandchildren Jake Basinger and Berkley Basinger.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:30 til 4:00 at Grace Lutheran Chruch with funeral following at 4:00 also at the church with Rev. Jerome Cloninger, minister. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Family Life Center 3020 Grace Church Rd. Salisbury, NC 28147.
