Sherry Jean Bellows was born February 3, 1977, in Mercer County West Virginia to her parents Sampy “Sam” and Shirley Bailey. Sherry was joined in her entry to this world by her twin brother Brian. The Bailey family made their home in Princeton, West Virginia where she graduated high school in 1995.
Sherry continued to college receiving a bachelor’s degree of science in education in the year 2000 and immediately starting her lifelong profession as an Elementary School Teacher. Sherry excelled when she was entrusted with young minds and took her education role very seriously; she actively participated in all the volunteer faculty activities and spent a lot of her own resources to make sure her students had all the tools necessary to learn.
Sherry met her husband Nathan Bellows shortly after her courageous relocation to the State of North Carolina for a teaching assignment and Nate’s relocation from Vermont. Sherry and Nate married on March 26, 2006, and built their home in China Grove where Sherry spent her last days on earth. Sherry continued teaching until the birth of their first son, Carter, in 2009. In addition to motherhood, she also remained an invested “NASCAR wife” when Nate was traveling for his career with Joe Gibbs racing. The couple welcomed their second son, Hunter, in 2012 which completed the Bellows brood. Throughout her life and well into marriage and motherhood, Sherry took great pride in being the rock and foundation for the family at the Davis Farm homestead.
Sherry was an avid fan of all things Disney and would plan the annual trips for the four of them to adventure to Orlando. If not with “Mickey”, “Minnie” and her favorite “Balou”, Sherry and her boys would travel to the Tennessee mountains or visit the ocean at the beautiful Outer Banks.
Sherry dedicated her life to raising her children and homeschooled them through mere days of her passing. Their education foundation was her life’s mission; even when facing the three-year health battle of her own.
Sherry will always be remembered for her poised and classy outward presentation, her love of all things “thrifty” and the care for her entire West Virginia, Vermont and North Carolina families.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Nate, her sons Carter and Hunter, her brother Brian (Kristina) Bailey, several aunts, uncles and cousins in West Virginia, Nate’s entire family from Vermont, her best friend from childhood Leanne and her North Carolina friends Cindy, Andrina, Amanda and Debbie.
Sherry was predeceased by both of her parents and several aunts and uncles.
Nate, Carter and Hunter wish to thank Oncologist Dr. Turner and his nursing staff for the exemplary care Sherry received.
A private burial will be held at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in Sherry’s memory to your charity of choice.
