Shirley D. Helms

Mrs. Shirley Dean Yost Helms age 82 of Salisbury passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at The Laurels of Salisbury. She was born on October 23, 1940 in Cabarrus County and was the daughter of the late Elmer Yost and Lillian Scott Yost. Shirley was educated in the Cabarrus County schools and was a member of Kimball Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Eric Helms. Those with cherished memories are her husband of 64 years, Dee Helms, her daughter Deiatra Smith (Tiger), grandchildren Reese Helms and Jake Helms. Great grandchildren include Cadence Helms, Raegan Helms and Whyatt Helms. She enjoyed a military family career and extensive travel in Europe. Shirley was a homemaker, and her family meant everything to her. Her grandchildren loved to go to her house and enjoy the home cooked meals that she would prepare. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral services to be on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Kimball Lutheran Church in Kannapolis, NC with Pastor John Futterer officiating.
