He is survived by his grandparents David (Dusty) and Ginger Miller and Jeffrey and Lisa Lingle, as well as his great-grandparents Ed and Frances Orbison and Donald and Carolyn Belk. He will also be lovingly remembered by his aunts, uncles, and cousins, including Dona Miller; Gina Miller; Lisa and Matthew Craig and their children, Logan and Saxon; Casey and Joseph Webb and their children, Presley and Jaxson; Jacob and Amber Lingle and their children, Regan and Avery; along with Janise and Ethan Livengood and their children, Conner and Kinsley.
Beyond his family, Silas leaves behind many friends who will remember him for the special person he was and the memories they shared together. Though his time with us was far too short, the love Silas gave and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends. With a bit of a stubborn streak, Silas liked to observe things carefully before joining in; but once he decided he liked something, it was with his whole heart. His love for the color bright green and his favorite stuffed owl “Mr. Who” are just two examples that will forever remind his family of him. As a homeschooler, Silas had a natural love for math and numbers. He enjoyed all kinds of family games, especially board games and cards, and loved using his imagination to build things such as original Lego creations with his brothers and cousins. Countless memories were made with his brothers having races with their Hot Wheel cars. A true boys’ boy, Silas enjoyed many different physical activities including baseball, basketball, soccer, along with riding his bike, jumping on the trampoline, building forts in the woods, going swimming, camping, and fishing. Silas also enjoyed taking part in the family garden, where he chose zucchini, squash, and bell peppers as his special projects. Together with his brothers, he enjoyed catching grasshoppers to feed their pet praying mantis. When it was time for entertainment, an adventure in Minecraft with his brothers and cousins was always a favorite. Yet, perhaps one of his most special passions was his love of coins. Silas took great joy in his coin collection and loved sharing it with his friends and family and anyone who would listen.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests considering donating toward Silas’s coin collection. His collection will continue to grow in his honor and serve as a cherished reminder of him for his family for years to come.
A visitation will be held at Piedmont Baptist Church in Enochville, North Carolina, located at 5870 Wright Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081, on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. A funeral service celebrating and honoring the life and memory of Silas will follow at 1:00 p.m.
