Susan Fillingim Jones

Susan was born on August 18, 1951. She was the daughter of Russell Abner Fillingim and Ruth Delois Gunter. She was raised by her loving mother, Delois, and stepfather, Herman McNeal.

Throughout her working life, Susan served as an aircraft upholstery technician and devoted herself to caring for others as a caregiver. Her steady hands and giving heart were evident in all she did.

Susan was married to the late H.F. Jones Jr. for 38 years. Their relationship was a loving and caring example to all who knew them. Together, they had two children whom they adored.

A loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Susan’s faith was central to her life. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing diamond paintings and treasured time with her friends, especially the outings they shared together. She also dearly loved her dog, Bear, a teacup chihuahua she cherished like a child.

Susan was an Alabama fan her whole life—ROLL TIDE. Every game, she would sit in her rocking chair, convinced the harder she rocked, the better the team played, and she went through a few chairs over the years. She also collected elephants because of the team mascot and her love for Big Al, filling her home with more than 350 elephants.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband H.F. Jones Jr.; fathers, Russell Fillingim and Herman McNeal, and her mother, Delois McNeal.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sherry Wise (Brad), and Bo Jones (Partner Andrew Osborne); sister, Janet Bottoms (Mike); grandchildren, Bradon Wise (Brittany), Jordan Bishop (Matthew); and great-grandchildren, Granger Bishop and Paisley Bishop.

A visitation will be held at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home on March 23, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A service will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m.
