Terrianne Taylor passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. She had an infectious smile, a kind and giving heart, and a true spirit of adventure. She lived her life to the fullest, exactly as she wanted, and never looked back.
Terrianne was born on April 10, 1946, in Pine City, Minnesota, to Eva Pelton and Walter McNaughton. She grew up on her grandparents’ small dairy farm in Henriette, Minnesota, where her love of sewing began. She later became a very talented seamstress. Terrianne attended Anoka High School, where she earned the title of Ms. Anoka in 1963. She also held the titles of Ms. Coon Rapids and Ms. Junior Achievement.
On October 10, 1964, Terrianne married James Taylor. Together they had three children: Peter, John, and Amy. Business opportunities took the family to various locations before they settled in Freehold, New Jersey, in 1976. It was there that their children were raised and lifelong friendships were formed. Being far from extended family, they embraced the friendships that remain dear to their hearts today. Terrianne fell in love with the Jersey Shore, Englishtown Flea Market, New York City, its cultural diversity, and authentic Italian food. While Jim raced cars, Terrianne thrived in the mortgage business. New Jersey will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Taylor family.
In 1991, as their children grew into adulthood, Terrianne and Jim decided to begin a new chapter in North Carolina. Their children married and started families of their own, and with Terrianne’s enthusiastic “North Carolina sales pitch,” they eventually followed. Nothing made her happier than having her family close by.
Drawing from her childhood on the farm and her keen business sense, Terrianne started a small business creating handmade, all-natural soap. The business grew rapidly and at one time employed most of the family. Pretty Baby Naturals became part of the family’s identity and earned Terrianne the beloved title of “Grandma Soap.” The family built cherished traditions of annual beach vacations, cruises, and holidays spent together on the Taylor compound.
Terrianne touched countless lives with her warm, gentle spirit and million-dollar smile. Over the years, she welcomed family members, friends, and those in need into her home—her door was always open, quite literally. Her adventurous nature never faded, whether driving in a
demolition derby or getting her first tattoo at age 72. Terrianne and Jim loved traveling the world and playing poker together. Jim often said he didn’t need to be excited because Terrianne was happy enough for the both of them.
She will be deeply missed.
Terrianne is survived by her loving husband, Jim; her sister, Anita Hoagland, and brother-in-law, Kirk; her children, Peter (Lesley) and Amy; her grandchildren, Joe (Maggie), Matthew (Kelly), Jamey, Abigail Jo, Jacob (Zoie), and Reagan; and her great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jullian, Cecillia, and Hershel.
She was preceded in death by her sweet and funny son, John.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Terrianne’s life on Friday, March 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, located at 1420 North Main Street, China Grove, NC 28023.
