

Salisbury-Thermon Lewis Hooks, 83, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Born January 6, 1931 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Lewis and Mary Weddington Hooks. A graduate of China Grove High School, Mr. Hooks had served with the US Army and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Retiring after more than 31 years of loyal service, he had been a supervisor with the Rowan County Prison Unit.
Family members left with cherished memories include his wife, Sophie Upright Hooks, who he married July 4, 1953; his daughter, Fern Hooks Caddell and husband, Dan, of Oakboro; his brother, James Hooks; sister, Betty Plummer, both of China Grove; and his grandchildren, Jordan, Cara and Jared Caddell.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 1, 2014, from 12:30-2:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Funeral services to remember and celebrate his life will begin at 2:00 PM, in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jerome M. Cloninger, Pastor, Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.
