

Born in Chesterfield County, SC on June 11, 1945, he was the son of the late Willis Moore and Mary Starnes Moore.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by six siblings.
Walter graduated from South Rowan high school and from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. He served in the United States Army from 1966-1969 as a Finance Officer, being stationed in Germany.
He worked many years in the textile industry retiring as Supervisor and was a member of First Methodist Church of China Grove having served on various committees and various activities.
Walter’s life encapsulated many wonderful memories. He shared 61 years of marriage with Janice Lentz Moore. Together they built a life for themselves, raising their sons, Bryan and Avery and enjoying grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Many hobbies included yard work, hunting, fishing and coaching baseball. Walter never missed a ball game. He loved antiques, playing golf, watching western movies, traveling to many US States and spending time at the Outer Banks.
Walter’s reputation was always exemplified by caring for others he worked with, his family and friends. He will truly be missed by all that had the opportunity to know him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janice; sons, Bryan (Shannon) Moore and Avery (Melissa) Moore; grandchildren, Carlie Moore, Cayden Moore, Ava Moore, Cole Oliphant, Desiree Roach, Curtis Roach, and Mckenzie (Jesse) Beaver; great-grandchildren, Breleigh Davis, Eliza Beaver and Wylder Ware.
He is further survived by his brother, Don Moore, and two sisters, Marcine Miller and Mary Alexander.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at First Methodist Church of China Grove.
The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with Pastor Will Van Wieren officiating. Burial will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors.
