

Preacher Walter Henry Reid, 82 of Landis, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Kiser Hospice House. Born on August 20, 1932 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late James M. and Etta Mae Honeycutt Reid. Mr. Reid attended Rowan County Schools and served his country in the US Army, serving in Korea, where he received two Purple Heart medals. He retired from Cannon Mills after many years of service. Preacher Reid was dedicated to his family and his church and it's ministries. Having served as a Sunday School teacher, he also did nursing home ministries and was a prayer warrior. He was a sincere, honest and joyful man who loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Debbie Hill. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years, Arnie Ruth Overcash Reid, daughters Sherry R. Brown (Ray) of Salisbury, Donna Eckstein (K.E.) of Albemarle, sons Buck Reid (Tina) and Jeff Reid (Tiffany) both of Kannapolis. Also surviving him is his sister, Elizabeth Garnett of Salisbury, grandchildren Jacqueline Merwin, Rudy Brown, Todd Eckstein, April Auman, Joshua Reid, Christopher Reid, Anna Reid, Mackenzie Reid, Logan Reid, Crystal Stratton, Michelle Broadway and Susan Evans, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by a beloved friend Charlie Gibson. Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 til 8:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, with funeral on Saturday at 11:00 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev.John Melton, minister.
