William Richard Hodge, age 90, of Salisbury, North Carolina, passed away on June 20, 2026, at Tucker Hospice House, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born September 12, 1935, William was the son of his late parents, John Richard Hodge and Esther Lena Goodwin. Bill’s life was marked by devotion, steady resilience, and a quiet wisdom that earned him the affection and respect of all who knew him.
William was married to the late Atlanta Geraldine Correll Hodge on February 02, 1957. Their enduring partnership remained a lasting part of his life and legacy, and he carried that bond with faithful love throughout the years.
A hard-working man in every season of life, William served two years in the Army in the 2nd Infantry, which he always said was “2nd to none.” He was a true jack of all trades, meeting each responsibility with purpose and reliability. Over the years, he drove a school bus for Rowan County schools, owned his own service station, sold cars, and worked with the VA—always showing up with the kind of diligence and steadiness that others could count on. He also served as lodge president for the Woodmen of the World, offering leadership and service to his community.
William was a regular morning customer at Hardee’s in China Grove, where he met up with friends who knew him simply as Bill. He also loved Mickey Mouse and took great joy in a large collection that reflected the simple delights he cherished.
Above all, Bill loved God and found deep meaning in praising him at church. His faith guided his days and strengthened the bonds he shared with family and community.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kelly Ann Hodge Flack (Terry); grandchildren Kayla Morgan (Paul), Seth Flack, and Jacob Flack; and great-grandchildren Kylie Flack and one baby girl on the way.
A visitation will be held at Landis Baptist Church on July 01, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at Landis Baptist Church from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm.
