OBITUARY

William "Steve" Stevie Pennington

August 8, 1950February 9, 2021

Mr. William “Steve” Stevie Pennington, age 70 of China Grove, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at his home. Born August 8, 1950 in Holmes County, FL to the late Austin Calvin Pennington and Carrie Coe Pennington. In addition to his parents, his infant daughter, Summer Noel Pennington and his sisters, Carolyn P. Sexton and Sonja P. Wilson, also preceded him in death. He was of Baptist faith.

After graduating from high school, Steve proudly served his country in the US Army, receiving several medals during his service. After his service, Steve worked many years for Flowers Bakery and later as a long haul truck driver. In his spare time, he loved to “tinker” and was an inventor of sorts, as he always found his OWN way to make things work or to repair them. He loved fishing, loved it like no other! However, his greatest love was for the Lord. He lived his life to serve and help others. He was a generous, tenderhearted man who raised his family with a firm hand but would drop everything at a moment’s notice to help anyone who needed him. Steve was a family man. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was everything!

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, 7 months and 9 days, Wanda L. Pennington of the home; his son, Steven (Wayne) Pennington and his daughters, Kelly Cherice Pennington and Heather Lynnette Tasker (“Lil Bit”). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kyle Pennington (Taylor), Tyler Pennington (Maddie) and Austin Pennington and great-grandchildren, Jayce Tyler and Ayden Brooks, brother in law, Ray Sexton and also many special nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held at a later date. Please check www.linn-honeycutt.com for an update announcing this service and where online condolences may also be left for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested you kindly remember Steve with memorials in his honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org. Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Pennington.
