William Vernon Whitley Sr.

CHINA GROVE: Willian Vernon Whitley Sr. 68 died Tuesday 23rd of April at his residence. Born February 11, 1945 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late William Preston Whitley Jr. and Pearley Fraley Whitley. Educated in the Rowan County school system, he was a truck driver for 30 years. Ten of those years were with Wilco\Hess. He was also former owner of the Humdinger in Kannapolis for 10 years. Loved fishing and yard work and was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge #293, The Oasis Temple, The Eastern Star and the Shrine Club in Salisbury.

Family members left with cherished memories include his wife, Mary Louise Turner Whitley; a son William Verenon Whitley Jr. of China Grove; and a daughter Tina Whitley Faggart of Salisbury; a sister, Frances Whitley of Five Oaks Nursing Home in Kannapoli, 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild..

Funeral service will be held Friday April 26, 2013 at 2:30pm in the Linn Honeycutt Chapel in China Grove. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00-2:00 pm, at the funeral home. Officiating minister will be Rev. Richard Smith. Burial will follow at West lawn Memorial Park
