Zacharay “Rudy” Brown, age 33 of Salisbury, gained his heavenly wings on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cabarrus, after fighting his courageous battle with Covid-19. He is rejoicing in the arms of Jesus. Born June 16, 1988 in Cabarrus County, Rudy, as he was known by everyone, was the son of Sherry Reid Brown and the late Donald Ray Brown. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents. Rudy was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Cleveland.
Rudy was graduate of South Rowan High School Class of 2006 where he excelled not only in academics but in baseball. He went on to graduate from UNC-Pembrook where he played baseball and received his bachelor’s degree in Sports Science. After college, he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals minor league team and played three seasons. He utilized his baseball talent along with his love for the Lord to mentor and coach young boys in the area and spent time as the pitching coach for Northwest Cabarrus High School in Concord. He worked for Henkel Corporation as a Chemical Operator.
Rudy was a Godly man who loved the Lord, was devoted to his precious family and lived to serve in all that he did. His presence and ability to draw people into his circle was his gift and he brought many to know Christ with this very special gift. He was an avid hunter, especially loving this time of year when hunting season began. Rudy was just a great guy, a great husband and father, and a great friend. He loved living life and made a difference and touched many lives along the way.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 7 years, Kayla Lynn Brown; his children, Silas Luke Brown, Titus Ray Brown and Prezleigh Grace Brown, along with his unborn son due in several months.
