Carol is survived by her loving husband, James Anthony Capasso, Jr; her son, Michael Capasso and her son-in-laws, Kent Kubik and Mark Woody; her son, Christopher Capasso and daughter-in-law Karen Capasso, her grandsons, Jack Capasso and Cooper Capasso; and her daughter, Amy Capasso and son-in-law, Ryan Stowers. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved father and mother, Walter and Helen Deveney, along with her brother Richard Galle. Mrs. Capasso also leaves behind numerous family, friends, and former students to cherish her memory.
Carol was raised in Garden Grove, when younger she was a competitive swimmer. Something she passed on to all of her children and grandchildren. She graduated from Marywood High, an all girls catholic school, and went to Cal State Fullerton where she got a Bachelors in Physical Education. While in college she worked at Disneyland where she met her husband Jim. She put off getting her teaching credential in order to start a family. Once all her children had started school, she decided to become a substitute teacher so she could be at home when here kids were home. She was an avid participant in her children’s swim team whether it was age group or high school. She was always there to lend a hand and cheer her kids on. Once her children were close to finishing high school she went back to school to get her teaching credential from Chapman University. Once her oldest child graduated from high school she became a 1st grade teacher at Ranchview Elementary in Ontario. She taught 1st grade her entire career because she felt that’s where her students had the most growth. After 20 plus years of teaching she decided to retire, but the love of education never faded. She continued to substitute teach in the Mountain View School District as long as she was able to. Her great joys of retirement were vacationing with family, friends, and supporting as well as being there for her grandchildren in all of their activities. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol's life will be celebrated by family and friends and her memory will live on always.
In honor of Carol, Family is requesting everyone to wear a shade of purple to Mass and the Committal Service on August 22. Thank you.
