It is with great sadness we report the passing of our beloved, Gerald “Jerry” Anthony Schlesinger on May 4, 2020. Jerry was born October 6, 1930 in Louisville, Kentucky. Upon graduating from Flaget High School in 1948. He honorably served in the US Navy for four years. He married the love of his life Mary Helen Diaz on November 14, 1953. Together, they had five children: Mary, Janie, Gary, Mark and Jerry. He is survived by his five children, 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Jerry was known for his bright smile, contagious laugh and taking time to get to know everyone around him. He was a humble man, with a strong Catholic faith, an enduring work ethic and a giving heart. Having lived in Chino, CA since 1954 he participated actively in his local community and regularly attended church services and events at St. Margaret Mary’s and Our Lady of Guadalupe, and football games at Damien High School. He began selling cars in the early 1970’s recently at Citrus Ford in Ontario, CA where he continued to work until he was 89 years old. However, what he enjoyed doing most was spending time with his family traveling and cheering on his grandchildren and great grandchildren at their soccer and softball games.
Jerry’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he’s met as well as those that he reached but never actually met.
“Those we love can never be more than a thought away, for as long as there’s a memory they live in our hearts to stay.”
