Stephenie The heart of our family, our beautiful and beloved mother, Grace Stephenie Lopez, went peacefully home on Thursday afternoon. Grace was a 98-year-old resident of the city of Chino. She lived in her neighborhood for 63 years. Grace was the daughter of Armando Dominguez and Constancia Yorba Peralta. Armando was a physician and Chino businessman who immigrated from Puerto Rico. Constancia was the daughter of Raymundo Yorba, a builder of the Yorba Adobe in Chino.
Her great-grandfather was Jose Antonio Yorba, who arrived in California from Spain on a Spanish galleon called the San Carlos in April of 1769. He survived the journey with Father Junipero Serra, the builder of the California missions. Ancestors of Grace included Jose Antonio Yorba and Bernardo Yorba of Yorba Linda, and grandmother Betzaida Yorba of Santa Ana Canyon. At one time, Jose Antonio Yorba owned a large Spanish land grant that included Santa Ana, Anaheim, Chino, Santa Ana Canyon, and Costa Mesa.
Grace graduated from Chino High School in 1945 and was a wonderful homemaker for all of her life. She enjoyed having coffee with friends and family, cooking, and caring for them. She enjoyed her many trips with her husband. She was a faithful and devout Catholic who loved God and prayed continually. She never gave up on us. Grace was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Ruben (2003). She is survived by her youngest sister, Frances Prieto of Chino Hills, her six children: Marie (David) Rosales, Ruben (Teri) Lopez, Pattie (Matthew) Bassi, Robert (Cheryl) Lopez, Ron (Lisa) Lopez, and Roberta (Curtis) Burton. Along with 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. We will all miss her greatly.
A Holy Mass in her honor will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, located at 12686 Central Ave., Chino, CA 91710, on December 3, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Following the service, Grace will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, 444 E Lexington Ave., Pomona, CA 91766, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
