Luz M. Prieto Velasco, 85, was born on October 21, 1940, in Cuxpala, Zacatecas, Mexico, and passed away on July 15, 2026. A beloved and cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her, Luz will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection.
Luz was preceded in death by her mother, Flavia Sandoval, and her father, Miguel Prieto Lara. Their memory remained an important part of her life and story, and those who loved Luz honor the family roots from which she came.
With a steady sense of devotion and care for those around her, Luz worked as a machine operator in a landscaping factory for five years. In that role, she carried herself with quiet diligence and a compassionate spirit that reflected the way she approached life—showing up, doing what was needed, and offering strength through constancy.
Luz shared her life with her husband, David Martinez Velasco, and together they built a family grounded in love and commitment. She is also survived by her children, David Velasco and Claudia Velasco, who carry forward her legacy of devoted care and the gentle compassion that defined her. Luz resided in Chino, California.
Luz leaves behind numerous family and friends to cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Chino, 13002 South Central Ave, Chino, CA 91710, on August 12, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5048 D St, Chino, CA 91710, on August 13, 2026, at 10:00 am.
Luz will be laid to rest at Bellevue Memorial Park , 1240 W G St, Ontario, CA 91762, on August 13, 2026, at 11:30 am.
A reception will follow on August 13, 2026, at 1:30 pm, at 1404 W Gladstone St, San Dimas, CA 91773.
