Marcella "Marci" Thornhill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 30th, 2026 . Born on November 16th, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York, Marcella was the daughter of Joseph and Carmella Sacco. She moved to California in her early 20's and has lived on the West Coast ever since. Marcella enjoyed going to church every Sunday and spending time with her family. Like her mother Carmella, she also loved going to Vegas to play slot machines; she had a system and it worked out most of the time for her, and insisted on picking machines for her travel companions.
Marcella was a passionate Angels Baseball fan, even when most seasons proved to make that difficult for her (there were many "Next Year" seasons). After retiring from the City of Upland, she got her dream job of working at Anaheim Stadium so she could share her love of the Angels with her fellow fans.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Carmella. She is survived by her brother Thomas Sacco, daughters Nicole Thornhill and Erica Thornhill, her son James Thornhill, and her grandchildren Gianna and Gabriel Mendoza.
A rosary service and celebration of life gathering will be held on 11/16/2026 at Funeraria Del Angel, and will be followed with a mass at St Paul the Apostle Church and burial services at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery on 11/17/2026.
