With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Maria Jesus Martins on January 11, 2025. A devoted Matriarch, woman of faith, and loving presence in the lives of all who knew her. Born on October 3, 1932, in Altares, Terceira Azores she was oldest of 7 siblings and migrated to the United States in May 1968. Maria lived a life filled with love, family, and dedication to her faith. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband Agostinho Rocha Martins for 57 remarkable years, and together they raised seven children. Maria's family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in her 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Avó." Her love, guidance, and wisdom inspired generations, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. In her quieter moments, Maria found solace in her favorite pastime: crochet. Her skilled hands created countless blankets, scarves, and other treasured items, each stitch infused with love and care. Maria's unwavering faith was a beacon of hope and strength to her family and community. Her devotion to her faith guided her throughout her life, and she remained committed to her values until the end. As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary woman, we take comfort in the knowledge that her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. Maria's love, kindness, and generosity will forever be etched in our hearts. Rest in Eternal Peace dear Maria with your beloved husband Agostinho and beloved daughter Alda.
