Mary Lee Moran, age 94, of Chino, California, passed away on September 2, 2024, after fighting the good fight for many years. She was born in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1930, the daughter of John P. and Margaret Lee. She was married to the love of her life, Daniel W. Moran, for more than 50 years, until he passed away in 2005. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Mary was a professional opera singer early in her life, and then chose to focus on her family and go back to school. She raised three children, David, Mark, and Lisa, while going to Mt. San Antonio College at night. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at Cal Poly Pomona and obtained her teaching credential from La Verne College.
Mary spent 40 years as an elementary school teacher in kindergarten through 5th grade. She shared her passion for learning with many children in her long career and was also a valued colleague to many other teachers and school personnel.
Mary was a devout Catholic and very active in her church. She was a religious education teacher and choir director when her children were young. Later, she was active in the Women’s Fellowship and a teacher in the Rites of Christian Initiation for Adults at St. Margaret Mary church in Chino. She regularly spoke and taught at these gatherings, encouraging women in self-esteem and independence, and through religious education topics helped many find their way to God.
Mary's hobbies included tending her home garden, reading, and world travel. She was always ready for another adventure. She also loved talking on the phone with her friends and family.
Mary was ready for her final journey home to the Lord. She was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed, and they will continue to honor her all their lives. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by three children, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
A Vigil Service will be held at Funeraria del Angel in Chino, September 23rd at 6:00 p.m.. A Funeral Service for Mary will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church in Chino, on September 24th at 10:00 a.m. with a Graveside to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pomona, at 12:00 p.m.
