

Nelson was born In El Salvador on November 19, 1964 and sadly departed this life on June 16, 2026, at the age of 61.
In 1989, he came to the United States in search of new opportunities and spent six years living in Los Angeles, California.
In 1995, Nelson met the love of his life, Aida Cecilia Portillo. Their relationship blossomed, and they were married in 2000. Nelson lovingly embraced Aida’s two sons, Wilfredo Jose Orellana and Walter Javier Orellana, as his own. Together, Nelson and Aida welcomed their son, Nelson Isreal Portillo, and their daughter, Kelly Cecilia Portillo, completing a family that brought him immeasurable joy.
Nelson’s love for all four of his children was patient, unconditional and unwavering. He taught them the value of hard work and taught them how to be strong and independent while also showing them the importance of kindness, compassion, and empathy. His guidance and example will continue to live on through each of them.
He loved listening to 80s, 90s and Spanish rock music. His favorite snack was dark chocolate. He loved to eat BBQ, tacos, salads and green fruit. French vanilla iced coffee, and Vitamin Water were his favorite beverages.He looked forward to spending time with family and friends, sharing laughter, stories and making memories together.
Nelson was an active member of Dignity Adult Day Health Care Center, where he formed meaningful friendships. He also loved going to the gym and staying active. Whether spending time with loved ones, enjoying his favorite music, or simply sharing a meal, Nelson embraced life and was full of life.
Above all, Nelson cherished his family. His greatest joy came from being a husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, generosity, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Nelson is survived by his beloved wife, Aida Cecilia Portillo, his children, Wilfredo Jose Orellana, Walter Javier Orellana, Nelson Israel Portillo, Kelly Portillo and his six cherished grandchildren, Alyssa, Carissa, Emma, Olivia, Eli, and Walter Xavier Jr.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, the memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
