Longtime Chino resident Richard A. Hilario passed away on Feb 19, 2015 at home. Richard was born
April 12, 1947 in Billings, Montana to parents Epifanio and Hilda Hilario. His parents moved the family to
Baldwin Park, California in 1956. In 1972 the family moved to Chino, California. Richard was preceded in
death by his parents.
Richard fell in love with mathematics while in Junior High School. As a freshman at Baldwin Park High
School he was selected to attend a State Mathematics Competition. He continued his learning of
mathematics all his life. He attended many National and local Mathematics Conferences held at major
US Universities where he developed many lifelong friendships among his peers. He donated hundreds
of his math/science/philosophy books to the Chino Library, which he knew would be treasured by all math
and science lovers. He loved all games which required intellect. He won a California State Chess
Championship while in Junior High School and loved a good chess match to his last days.
Richard enlisted in the US Army in 1968 and served as a combat soldier in Vietnam. Upon his honorable
discharge, Richard enrolled at a local college and continued his love of mathematics and science.
Richard had a large loving family with whom he loved spending time. Siblings; Michael Hilario, Ramon (Rosa)
Hilario, Patricia Rose (Jon) Frederickson and, Daniel (Barbara) Hilario. He dearly loved his many nephews
and nieces; Mike, Mark, Heather, Cathy, Chris, Maria, Tisha, Felicia, Frank, Chaz, Kenny, Nicole, Mark,
Danny and Christina. He also had many grand nephews and grand nieces. He grew up with a large
and loving extended family of many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Richard's services will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in
Chino with a Viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow with
Military Honors at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina.
Reception will follow at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Chino.
