

Sabino Avelino Hernandez, 89, of Chino, passed away September 19, 2016 at home. He was born December 30, 1926 in Chino and lived there his entire life. Sabino was a self-employed, truck driver for 44 years and enjoyed hauling sugar beets. He courageously served in WWII and was a US Army veteran. Sabino had a green thumb for growing chili peppers, tomatoes, squash and water melon. He especially enjoyed giving family and friends the olives he cured himself. Sabino found joy working with his hands to build, construct, remodel and repair plumbing or anything concrete or wood. Sports were a favorite pass time for Sabino and he loved cheering for his teams; the Los Angeles Dodgers and L.A Rams.
Sabino will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 69 years, Lupe Hernandez; children Sammy Hernandez, Sylvia Godoy, Pat Valencia, Larry Hernandez, and Maryanne Olivas; their spouses Janet Hernandez, Sal Godoy, George Valencia, Louie Olivas; his sister Martina Morales; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 17 nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be 5 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Funeraria del Angel Chino with rosary at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 am, Friday, September 30, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Chino. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pomona.
