Doris "June" Tadlock passed away in her home in Merced, California on Saturday, June 27, 2026. She was born on July 22, 1931, to her parents Henry and Dorothy Mitchell, in Hatfield, Arkansas. She was the fifth child of eleven.
In her early teens the family migrated from Arkansas to California where they moved frequently looking for work. On December 18, 1948, she married Pete Tadlock in Reno, Neveda. They had four children together, Bill, Marie, Janice and David. They made their home in Chowchilla for many years while raising their kids who all attended Chowchilla schools.
June worked many jobs which included picking and chopping cotton, working at a Sardine Factory in Monterey, California, CNA at a Nursing Home, and a Seamstress at a Drapery Factory before becoming a bus driver. June drove many Chowchilla High School ROP students to their various job training sites in Merced, Chowchilla, LeGrand and Planada. She loved gardening, always having a beautiful and meticulous yard.
She mostly loved being a Grandma, Great Grandma, and Great Great Grandma.
June is survived by her children, Bill Tadlock of Chowchilla, Doris Marie McGee and husband Raymond Salida, California, Janice Walker and her husband Mike of Fresno, California, and David Tadlock and his wife Stephanie of Decatur, Texas.
June leaves behind her grandchildren Susan Henderson and husband Eric of Ada, Oklahoma, Gary Taylor and wife Kim of Ada, Oklahoma, Chuck Walker and wife Brandy of Fresno, California, and Stephanie Baugh and husband Sam of Justin, Texas.
Her Great Grand Children Justin Rodrigues and wife Kaylen of York Nebraska, Kyle Rodrigues and wife Cory of Ada, Oklahoma, Brooklyn Wolski and husband Alex of Dallas, Texas, Haily Tadlock of Lake Elsinore, California and Peighton Brannon and Abigail Baugh of Justin, Texas.
Her Great Great Grand Children Hayden and Augie Rodrigues of York, Nebraska and Reese Rodrigues of Ada, Oklahoma.
One brother, Ray Mitchell of Arizona.
June is preceded in death by her Husband Pete, Daughter In Law, Glenda Tadlock, Grandson Billy Lee Tadlock, her Parents Henry and Dorothy Mitchell, her Brothers Avon, Harland, Norman, Monroe, and Roy. Her Sisters Estelle, Mary, Wilma, and Dorothy.
June has been and always will be the “Rock” of her entire family. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her family and the many friends that she made throughout her life.
Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Chowchilla District Cemetery, 23359 Road 14 ½, Chowchilla, California.
