Pete was preceded in death by his father, Elba Lamont Peters Sr.; his mother, Ellen Carmalita Peters; and his sisters, Wanda Dollarhide and Joann Aday.
He is survived by his beloved wife of seventy years, Jimmie Sue Peters; his daughters, Karen Renee Teague and Kathleen LeeAnn Peters; his grandchildren, Leeann Shaw, Shannon Hamilton, Jeremy Retzlaff, Whitney Teague, and Courtney Teague; as well as four great-grandchildren who brought him tremendous joy.
Pete graduated from Benicia High School and married his high school sweetheart, Sue. Following their marriage, he proudly served in the Army National Guard. He later pursued higher education and earned a degree in Electronic Engineering.
In 1975, Pete moved his family to Merced, where he devoted himself to raising his family and serving his community. He will be remembered most for his deep love for his Savior, Jesus Christ, and for the kindness and generosity he freely shared with others. Pete had a servant’s heart, always willing to lend a helping hand and
encourage those around him.
His faith, compassion, and dedication to family and community leave behind a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
Pete will be deeply missed and forever be remembered.
A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., held at the New Life Community Church, 2124 First Street, Atwater, California.
Committal Service will follow at the Chowchilla District Cemetery, 23359 Road 14 1/2, Chowchilla, California at 1:15 p.m.
