Emma was born on October 12, 1942, in Scott County, Arkansas.
She was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for over 40 years. She received both her bachelor's and master's degrees from California State University, Fresno. Her work included intensive outpatient treatment, hospital discharge planning for patients with acute mental health hospital stays, work in the Fresno County Jail, and adolescent day treatment for teens with mental health disabilities.
In addition to her clinical work, Emma supported and mentored other therapists by helping them complete their required clinical hours and prepare for licensure.
Emma was known for her generosity and compassion. She cared deeply for others and was always willing to help people and animals in need, often taking in strays.
Emma was married to Phillip Douglas Ford for 33 years. She is survived by her adult son, Michael L. Haun; her adult stepchildren, Andrea G. Scharffer and Jeremy D. Ford; and her grandson, Paul D. Scharffer, Jr., as well as niece Suzanne Lawton and nephews Rick and Steve Abou-Donia and her sister Martha M. Abou-Donia.
She was the daughter of James Samuel Davis (May 2, 1909 - October 9, 1988) born in Winchester, Kentucky, and Helen E. Davis from Scott County, Arkansas (May 16, 1919 - March 1, 2015).
A Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Palm Memorial Worden Chapel, located at 140 South 6th Street, Chowchilla, California, on February 21, 2026, at 10:00 am.
Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm at the Chowchilla Cemetery, 23359 Road 14 1/2, Chowchilla, California.
