Kay Montalvo (Florence Kay Oehler), age 76, passed away peacefully April 22, 2020 at home with her loved ones by her side. She was born October 21, 1943 in Merced, California to Stewart and Kathleen Oehler. Kay grew up in Fairmead, California where she was the third child of eight. She had six brothers and one sister who she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jose, parents Stewart and Kathleen, her sister Lorretta (Clema Jean) Clark/Scroggins, and brothers Steve, Lenn , Leon and Randy Oehler.
Kay is survived by her two remaining brothers and their wives Bill and Pat Oehler, and Phillip and Nancy Oehler, along with her many nephews and nieces, all of which she loved and touched their lives deeply.
She married the love of her life, Jose O. Montalvo in May of 1974 who preceded her in death in 2017.
Kay and Joe loved each other, everything they did they did together. When Joe got sick, even though she did not feel well herself, she unselfishly took care of him until the Lord called him home. Aunt Kay had a feisty side to her and would let anyone know how she felt when she felt they were wrong. She was also humorous and loved to love on people. She would walk up to a stranger anywhere she went and carry on a lengthy conversation and it seemed like they had known each other for years. Kay loved her best friend of 30 years Angie Castro, who helped her after Joe's death and remained her best friend until the end. Bonita her trusty dog and companion was there to lay and comfort her on lonely nights.
She loved to pray and would pray for her family and friends constantly. Kay would always say: "I truly believe that all my mother's and sisters prayers for our family have not gone away and God still hears them. My family will be saved and serving the Lord", so we can now believe that all her prayers are joined with theirs. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32--"And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
Due to Covid-19, celebration of life will be held at a later date. We hope you will join us.
