John "Dick" Richard Lewis

Dick was born in 1929 in Long Beach, California, and raised in Whittier, California. He attended Cal Poly Pomona and after serving as a pilot in the United States Navy during the Korean War, Dick and his wife Norma moved to Chowchilla, California, where they raised their family and ranched.

Dick loved the mountains and wilderness, and hand-built two cabins in the Sierra's where his family spent many happy times. Dick and Norma moved to Homer, Alaska where they resided for over 30 years, he loved halibut fishing from his boat on the Katchimak Bay, and was an active member of the American Legion.

Dick is preceded in death by his wife Norma, infant daughter Janet, son Jeff and grandson Jeffery “JJ” Lewis. Surviving children include son Clay Lewis (Lori),daughter Jeanne Breashears (Mike).

Grandchildren include Mike Breashears Jr (Sara), Lindsay Breashears, Nathan Gillaspy, Ashley Gillaspy, Phillip Vaught (Mikayla), Kayla Diaz (Antonio), Katie Tonn (Justin), Will Lewis, Jake Lewis (Hannah).

There are 10 great-grandchildren with more on the way.

Services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chowchilla Cemetery, 23359 Road 14 1/2, Chowchilla, California.
