Born on January 21,1942, in Arkansas. Leon was one of five children born to Orval & Ola Pettitt. In 1954 his family moved to Chowchilla, California.
In his youth Leon helped with the family's cotton farming. Leon graduated Chowchilla High school in 1960. After high school Leon pursued his interest in the automobile industry, starting as a tow truck driver.
He married his love, Lorraine DeMoura February 3, 1963 and they relocated to Mountain View. Leon began working as an auto mechanic at HolidayFord in Sunnyvale. During his time at Holiday Ford, he and Lorraine welcomed their daughter Lori.
Leon's work ethic and people skills enabled him to rise to sales manager at Holiday Ford, eventually he would leave to become a sales manager at another dealership in Sunnyvale. There he developed a business partnership and purchased a Ford dealership in Mountain View. After a few years the partnership group purchased the Ford dealership in Sunnyvale and consolidated both locations. This opportunity brought Leon full circle by returning to the Sunnyvale dealership as an owner/dealer. Leon and his partners ventured in a few more auto dealerships over the years creating life long friendships.
After a time Leon was able to step back and pursue his interests in golf, boating, traveling in his RV and attending NASCAR events with friends.
Leon is survived by his wife Lorraine; daughter Lori; grandchildren Kimberli, Bryan (Ashlyn). Krysteena , Brendan; as well as a great grandson Rory.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Orval and Ola Pettitt, and brother Audice Pettitt.
