September 1, 1938 – March 9, 2024
Patricia passed away on March 9, 2024 following a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis and more recently Parkinson’s disease. She was born to Gordon and Margaret Leyh on September 1, 1938 in Madera, CA. She graduated from Chowchilla Union High School in Chowchilla, CA in 1956 and earned her RN from St. Francis Memorial Hospital Nursing School in San Francisco, CA in 1959.
Patricia married Donald Stikkers in June of 1966 and enjoyed raising 3 children over 57 years of marriage together. Over the course of her career, she worked in many areas of nursing including doctor’s offices, surgery, head nurse in labor and delivery, and nurse manager of an outpatient surgery center in southern CA. Her career spanned locations across California in San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, San Andreas and Upland.
She retired from Nursing in 1995 and moved to Angels Camp, CA with her husband Don where she would continue nursing as a volunteer parish nurse. She then moved to Grand Junction, CO in 2006 with Don to further enjoy their retirement years together.
She is survived by her husband Don, son Dan of Anaheim, CA, daughter Elizabeth of San Francisco, CA, grandson Ryan Stikkers of Poughkeepsie, NY and cousin Ellen Sojka of Grand Junction. She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Gorden Leyh, brother Richard Leyh and son David Stikkers.
She will be interred in her childhood home of Chowchilla, California. A celebration of life and memorial service will take place in Grand Junction at a later date. Family kindly requests in lieu of flowers that donations be directed to the MS Society, Parkinson’s Foundation or AFTD.org.
A graveside service for Patricia will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Chowchilla Cemetery, 23359 Road 14 1/2, Chowchilla, CA 93610.
