Rose "Rosie" Josephine Bennett, age 92, of Chowchilla, California passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the age of 92, at Cogir Cedar Creek, in Madera where she had been living for the previous 8 months.
Rosie was born to Anna (Bettencourt) Mello and Joe Soares Mello on January 19, 1933, in El Nido, California.
Rosie was raised on a dairy, as a child, and with 10 siblings, Joe, Bill, Henry, Johnny, Frankie, Sophie, Louise, Elsie, Annie, and Mary, life was never dull around the Mello home.
She graduated from Chowchilla High School, then went to work for a while as a telephone operator. She then married the love of her life Jerry Bennett, and they raised their four children together in Chowchilla.
After their children were grown, Rosie enjoyed working at Fuller School as a Teacher's Aide, and then later as the school's librarian.
Rosie was a wonderful seamstress. She enjoyed sewing clothing for her children and many other items for her home. During her retirement, she made many many beautiful quilts, which now her family cherish.
She loved her family and enjoyed all the time she spent with them.
Rosie was preceded in death by her loving husband Jerry Bennett. They shared their life together for 61 years and she greatly missed him after his passing. She is also preceded in death by her grand daughter Michelle Mabdala and great grand daughter Abigail Cox, along with her parents Jose and Anna Mello.
She is survived by her four children, Pam and Craig Wood, Rick Bennett, Terri and Mike Mandala, and Jody Bennett. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Upon her request, no public service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Agnes Hospice.
