 I grew up knowing my grandma  was a strong woman. I knew it not only from stories that I had heard but from me  witnessing it personally.  It was a strong eye-opener learning after she had passed all the amazing things that she had done for this world  and this country. 
 Every single night I spent there we had this big breakfast in the morning. I remember the first time that I had asked for two pieces of toast instead of one. I use the two pieces of toast to make myself a breakfast sandwich out of the ingredients.
 She hardly even eat her meal that was in front of her, she watched me  eat my sandwich. She was so fascinated with how I made this breakfast sandwich.  She sat there until I finish and asked me if I wanted more toast. I told her know that I was four and she made me two more pieces of toast anyways. 
 Ever since then grandma watch me eat my breakfast sandwich every time I was there just waiting to grab me more toast in case I wanted it.
 I'll never forget the times I played marbles and her breezeway with my cousins,  or the  several times I helped her pick oranges from the trees. Wondering how this woman six times my age could climb up a 20 foot ladder leaning up against a tree and loading pounds and pounds of oranges into her side bag. 
 I will never forget all the many toys she kept in the house specifically because she knew that I loved them. ( not my other cousins mind you, she  always told me how much she knew I loved that dollhouse and the tractor toys.) 
 I'll never forget the first time that she sparked my interest in stones by showing me the "Indian tear stones" ( I don't know if that's a real thing but she told me some story behind them and called them that.) 
 I feel like I could go on with memories, but truly I only wish to say that I grow up to be as amazing as a woman as she was.

Ruby was a wonderful lady, with a big kind heart, she was also a wonderful friend of our family.  Carl and Ruby will be so missed, but we will see them again, when the Lord comes to take us home.  God bless you all, so sorry for you loss, you are all wonderful and will be there for each other.  Love from your friend.

I was privileged to get to meet Ruby and her late husband, Carl Foster Merriam, when they attended our 60th annual Michigan Merriam reunion, along with you children (Phyllis, Lowell, Cameron and Carla) a few years back. My mother, who died less than two years ago, was glad to get to renew fellowship with Ruby and Carl and she thought a lot of them. Our hearts go out to you in your loss. Ruby was like my second mother. She tried to keep me on the straight and narrow path.

Sorry to hear of Ruby's passing. I'm Pastor Aaron Wagner's daughter Joanne. Knew the Merriam' a little by visiting Chowchilla while he was astir there. My condolences to the family.

Although I don't remember meeting Ruby while in high school with Cameron she sounded so wonderful.  It is so painful loosing our parents.  Thank the Lord that he promises that we will see them again.  Hold on to the memories and laughter u shared.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I did not know you Ruby but went to High school with your amazing son Cameron, you have lot's to be proud of.  I know you are with the angels now and someday you will be joined by the rest of your beautiful family. RIP until we all meet again.

Ruby, it was always such a pleasure to visit with you.  Lexi and I enjoyed celebrating our August birthday's with you at Alex and Amy's house each year.  Mike enjoyed talking with you about gardening.  At Christmas we looked forward to your persimmon cookies - they were the best!!  You will be missed but always in our hearts.
