My Mema... Continued

She was always joining or creating a club of some sort. She was the President and Founder of:
Bless Your Heart with FIDO, Red Hat Club, Club Gratitude with MAFIA “Mother’s and Friends in America” and Vice President of: SISMO. Anything to bring us all together.

She loved to tell jokes. I’m sure as we sit here a few funny jokes will flow through your memories. She would also goose people. One time she was in line somewhere and she goosed the man in front of her thinking it was her nephew, David Hilton. As the man turned around to her surprise, it was not him. Turns out it was still someone she knew. But she was so embarrassed and would laugh and tell this story often.

She loved God, her bible, writing and counting her blessings.

One thing she would always say when I called her, “Hi darlin” and “bye doll.”

My Mema

I have always heard the story that when I was born Mema’s feet did not touch the ground as she was so excited to have her first grandchild. I know she was equally excited every time she received the news that a new grand, great and great great was on their way. One day we were shopping, and I yelled out, “Mema!” and the rest is history…

I loved going to Mema and Grandpa’s house. John and I would show up and we could not wait for Robert to arrive soon after. We would play, watch TV, eat popcorn, and drink tea. I loved biscuits and chocolate gravy… the best! I would crawl in the middle of her and grandpa and in the morning, she would bring me hot chocolate and grandpa his coffee.

One of my favorite memories is when we would play in the camper, and I needed pretend food. I would walk throughout her yard and cut flowers and leaves to serve. She never told me stop and when I left her house, I don’t think she had a single flower left on her property.

In 1989 she and grandpa moved to Chowchilla. In High School I would walk to her house on my lunch break. She would make me a sandwich and we would visit. Our visits in person or on the phone usually started with, “Who you wana talk about?” We would laugh and start talking.

She loved to go to the rummage or as we would call it, “That brand new store.” When she would visit me in Henderson we always went to Goodwill on Wednesday’s, senior day. We would spend hours in there, get in the car and laugh at all stuff we bought for everyone else. In her memorial video she is holding a long receipt of one of those days. Afterwards we would go through a drive through and eat lunch in the car. I would tell her, “You better not make a mess in this car or I’m telling Tony.” Then we would laugh.

Sybil and Orville Arms are the salt of the earth. I met them when I was very young and they were always so sweet. I was at Jescas house a month ago and I spoke to Sybil on the phone. Yes she remembered me. Rest peaceful with your love until we all meet again. Prayers for the family. Love Denise. Atwater ca.

I LOVED our sharing times! Giggled at silly jokes, stories of family funnies, sharing the loves we encountered from loved memories, sharing grandkids successes and trials and .. mostly sharing the love we have in common with friends, young and old! These visits will never be forgotten, the giggles amd tears from laughing and sharing of lost loves.... its all good stuff! Happy memories were made at the table every single time we met up! Until we meet again at the Kingdom of Heaven! Love to you all!!
