Virginia Mae Beglau was born on March 4,1935 in San Mateo, California to Mary and Benjamin Beglau. She was the third child after two older brothers, Melvin and Donald. She was their only daughter. The family lived in San Mateo until the mid 1940’s. Then, her parents moved to Santa Rosa, California and started a chicken ranch. She spent her childhood in Santa Rose and enjoyed being with her mother and brothers, as her parents divorced in the late 1940’s. Her mother taught her many life skills.
Virginia attended Redwood Junior Academy from grade school through 10th grade. Then, for high school, she followed her brothers to attend Lodi Academy in Lodi, California. While there, she obtained the nickname, Ginny, met a handsome guy named, Gene Haworth and graduated from high school in 1952. After Gene returned from the Army, their lives reconnected, and they married in 1956. They moved to Chowchilla and began their life together, as Gene was a dairy farmer with his parents, LG and Novella, and brother Elvin. In 1965, the families moved their farm headquarters and families north from Dairyland (Avenue 18½) to Avenue 25 ½ and resided there the remainder of their life. Virginia and Gene were active in the Chowchilla Seventh Day Adventist Church all of their lives. She loved her farm and country life, raising her 4 children and later, become involved with the business of the ranch. She lived in Chowchilla until 2021, when she moved into assisted living in Madera. Sadly, in 2011, she sustained cerebral encephalitis which profoundly and negatively changed her life. Virginia passed away peacefully in Fresno, California at St. Agnes Medical Center on March 23, 2022. She was 87 years of age.
She is survived by her four children, Wendell, Sandy and Greg, all who reside in Chowchilla and John, who lives in Colorado. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Steven, Eric and Jason Haworth of Chowchilla, Lisa Montgomery of Aptos, California, Kristal Montgomery, residing in Denver, Colorado, Owen Haworth, who resides in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Ethan Haworth, residing in Memphis, Tennessee and Jeff Haworth, who resides in Denver, Colorado. She was further blessed with three great grandchildren, Clay, Zachary and Quinn Haworth. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene, her two brothers, Melvin and Donald Beglau and her parents.
There will be a Graveside Service for Virginia on May 6, 2022, at 10 am at the Chowchilla Cemetery. Following this, there will be a Memorial service for her and Gene at the Chowchilla SDA church.
She will be interned beside her lifelong love and husband Gene at the Chowchilla Cemetery on May 6, 2022. She was a loving wife, kind and loving mother and will be forever missed. Yet, she had the hope of Jesus' return and life eternal with Him and her family. We will see you again!
