Dale grew up in Springfield, Ohio, and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1971. He also attended Clark State and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State. From the age of 12, Dale was involved in the Boy Scouts, and he served as part of the summer camp staff at Camp Birch in 1969, 1970, 1974, and 1975—an early reflection of his steady commitment to youth, learning, and service.
Dale served his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He later retired from the Ohio Department of Agriculture, where he worked as a Food Safety Specialist. His career and military service spoke to a life shaped by responsibility, diligence, and devotion to the well-being of others.
Dale was a son of the late Raymond E. and Betty N. (Elliott) Pool. He is survived by four daughters: Julia Pool of Carlisle, OH; Jacqueline Pool of Franklin, OH; Therese (Chris) Platania of Memphis, TN; and Emilie (Kyle) Kuta of Cleveland, TN. He was a proud grandfather to four grandsons. A sister, Jeannie Pool of CA, also survives him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marshall Pool.
An avid fisherman, Dale also enjoyed wood working and traveling. He gave generously of his time and knowledge to the community: he was one of the founding members of the Cedar Bog Association and served 20 years as a board member. He taught hunter education for 25 years and NRA marksmanship for 38 years, leaving a lasting impact through patient instruction and steadfast leadership.
Dale was a patriot and was forever grateful for the good fortune of being born in America. His life reflected that gratitude through service, integrity, and a sincere commitment to others.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Dale’s memory is asked to support their local Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts with a gift of time or money.
