

Beverley Ann Chegwidden, age 85 of Circleville, Ohio and Grapevine, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family in Circleville on June 24, 2026. Born on January 3, 1941, she was the daughter of Lawrence J. McKenzie Sr. and Rose Alma Harral McKenzie.
Beverley spent her childhood on the grounds of Pickaway Township School, where her father was the school’s custodian. The family lived in the house next to the school that once housed the school caretaker and family. Those early years instilled in her a deep appreciation for family, community, and hard work that remained with her throughout her life.
During her school years, Beverley was active with both the yearbook staff and in 4-H, developing memories that she cherished throughout her life. In 1968 she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she met her husband, Douglas J. Chegwidden. Together they had two children, James and Jodie. Beverley enjoyed traveling, and she visited all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico.
Beverley was employed for 29 years at the Internal Revenue Service before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to serving others. In retirement, she continued to give back to her community by volunteering at numerous festivals in Grapevine, Texas, along with helping seniors complete their taxes. She remained active in the Ohio State Grange, of which she was a member for 70 years.
More than any accomplishment, Beverley will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family. She found joy in gathering with loved ones and visiting family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas J. Chegwidden; her father, Lawrence J. McKenzie Sr.; her mother, Rose Alma Harral McKenzie; and her sister, Barbara McKenzie.
Beverley is survived by her loving children, James Chegwidden of Grapevine, Texas, and Jodie Hedrick (Chegwidden); her son-in-law Ronald L. Hedrick, Jr.; cherished grandsons, Chase Hedrick and Corey Hedrick; her brothers, Lawrence J. McKenzie Jr. and Charles McKenzie; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A visitation time will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm with her funeral service beginning at 12:30 pm at Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Cemetery.
