David Arthur Benson, 88, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Berger Hospital, Circleville, Ohio. He is a former resident of Marion, Morrow and Ottawa counties, and had also loved in Michigan and Tennessee.
He was born October 14, 1935 in Marion, Ohio to Lloyd Aden and Mare E (Hemminger) Benson. He married Rose Marlene Landon on April 18, 1953, in Mt. Gilead, Ohio.
Later in life, he united himself with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a Freemason and past member of Al Menah Oriental Band. He enjoyed travel, camping and fishing.
David was machinist at HPM in Mt. Gilead. He joined Ford in 1966, working in Sandusky, then the Woodhaven stamping plant, and finally retiring from the Ford glass plant in Nashville.
He was preceded by his wife of 64 years, Rose; daughter, Delra Marlene Anderson; grandchild, Jared James Benson; great grandchild Maverick Benson; brothers Paul and Leo Benson; half brothers, Roy, Willard, Virgil and Pearl Benson; half sister Nellie Benson Stone.
He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Rother, Donna, Texas; two sons, Michael (Susan) of Vermillion, South Dakota and Paul (Sandra) of Circleville, and one daughter, Dawn (Greg) Gatenby, of Columbia, South Carolina; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
His ashes will be interred at Glenwood Cemetery, Cardington, Ohio. A private, family gravesite memorial service will be held.
