Born on January 18, 1955, Doug was larger than life in every sense of the word. Known near and far for his unforgettable personality, biggest smile, hardworking spirit, and ability to make everyone feel like a friend, he never met a stranger. Whether you knew him for years or only shared a brief conversation, chances are you walked away with a story — and everyone seemed to have a “Cajun” story to tell.
A lifelong farmer, Doug took immense pride in his work and the life he built through dedication and grit. More than anything, he loved being a father, grandfather, spending time with family and friends, golfing, preparing family dinners with his wife Diana and enjoying every moment life had to offer. He was always quick with a joke, and brought laughter and energy everywhere he went. You always knew you were in for a good time especially when you’d heard the “Cajun Call”!
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Marshall of 47 years; his son, Aaron (Julie) Marshall; his daughter, Amy (Nate) Cochenour; his grandkids, Mayci Marshall, Karly (Aidan) Eisnaugle, Halle Marshall, Layne Cochenour, and Marshall Cochenour; his great-grandson, Jaxson Cochenour; his brother, Steve (Tracy) Marshall; and many friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Virginia Marshall; and other family members and close friends.
Douglas will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the countless people whose lives he touched throughout the years. His memory, stories, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
