Mary Elizabeth (Toler) Housh, aged 91 years, died peacefully on July 20, 2025, at Berger Hospital in the presence of her family. Mary was born on January 28, 1934, in Owens, West Virginia to Seymour Edward Toler and Cathleen Virginia Leake. She was the middle of three daughters and remained close to her sisters until their deaths. Many knew Mary by her childhood nickname, “Belle.” She married Arnold Housh on August 10, 1951, a bond that lasted 65 years until his death in 2017. Together they raised three children. Mary was a resident of Circleville for sixty years. She worked at several different retail locations in Circleville making many friends during her years working at the former Video Shop on West Main St.
Mary’s family was her pride and joy. Her home was always open to neighbors and her children’s friends, many of whom affectionately called her “Mom Housh.” Mary provided childcare for each of her six grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed being with her great-grandchildren. She could make each grandchild feel like they were the most special person in her life. Mary loved holidays, especially Christmas. Nothing was more satisfying than having the house filled with family. She was generous with her time and loved to shower her family with gifts. Mary possessed a quiet but meaningful faith that sustained her to the last breath.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband; sisters, Erma Thomson and Helen Jean Lester; and special nephew, Robby Housh.
Mary is survived by her children: Mary (Norm) Stacy, Barb (Rick) Matthews, and Tim (Brenda) Housh; grandchildren: William (Kelly) Trego, Angie (Eric) Stevenson, Jim (Angela) Trego, Mitch (Meg) Stacy, Chelsey (Alex) Wheeler, and T.J. Housh; and great-grandchildren: Keegan, Aaron, Kaydence, Jackson, Josie, Ava, Amelia, Graham, Milo, Blake, and Brixton; in addition to several nephews; special nieces, Wanda Toler and Nancy Ellis; and cousins. In her later years, she was very appreciative of the friendship and care provided by Tiffany and Cheyenne.
The family extends its gratitude to special friends Doug and Jennifer Brown, Alice Harker, Sue McGuire, and Becky Stevens, and to the staff of Berger Hospital and Dr. Menachem Wolf.
A private funeral will be observed by the family with the Rev. William Trego presiding.
