Sheila Jeanette Smith

Sheila was born October 9, 1956 at Flora, Illinois to Hubert W. and Edith (McConnaughhay) Brashear. She married John E. ‘Jack’ Smith, Sr. December 28, 1973 at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church and he survives.

Sheila was a Social Worker for SSM Hospice at Mt. Vernon, Illinois and a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church.

Sheila is survived by her husband Jack E. Smith, Sr. of Orchardville, Illinois; daughter Katie (Dan) Baumhoegger of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and a son John (Tracy) Smith, Jr. of Orchardville, Illinois; sisters Carol (and the late Ed) Kell and Judy (Jim) Solomon both of Orchardville, Illinois; brothers Larry (Jeanette) Brashear of Orchardville, Illinois and Ed (Janice) Brashear of Iuka, Illinois. Four grandchildren - Olivia Baumhoegger, Liam Smith, Laina Smith, and Sophia Baumhoegger and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rowena (and the late Jim) Burge and a brother Garry (and the late Connie) Brashear.

Visitation will be held 5pm – 8pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Hosselton Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be given to Pleasant Hill Christian Church and will be accepted at Hosselton Funeral Home.
