Verna Lou Morris Flexter

Verna was born September 6, 1931 in Van, TX to Columbus Earl and Nell M. (Ribble) Morris. She attended Cisne High School and married Carl (Cork) Flexter on September 11, 1949 in Cisne, IL.

Verna was a homemaker for many years and then retired from Wal-Mart in 1997. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elmore City, OK where she was also a member of the Piece Makers Quilting Club. She loved to sew and fish.

Verna is survived by her daughter, Carla Stanley (& husband Terry) of Foster, OK; son Bill Flexter (& wife Tina) of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Dusti Austin (& husband Trey) of Littleton, CO; Derek Stanley (& wife Jacey) of Blanchard, OK; Michael and Stoney Flexter of Hattiesburg, MS and Anthony Flexter of Louisville, KY. Verna is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Kylie, Zane, Cole & Levi Austin and Devin & Katelynn Stanley.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband Carl of 60 years, her parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and an infant daughter.

Funeral services for Verna Lou Flexter will be 11AM Friday, June 17, 2011 at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne. Burial will be in Cisne Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 16, 2011 6-8PM at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at the Elmore City First United Methodist Church on June 21, 2011 at 6PM.

Memorials in memory of Verna Lou Flexter may be given to American Heart Association and will be accepted at Hosselton Funeral Home.
